The BHSO State Park can be found in Culver City, California.
It is situated along the edge of the western ridge of the Baldwin Hills at the foot of the scenic overlook. In the Culver City park, the world famous workout stairs are topped with a platform offering panoramic views of the Los Angeles Basin. From Jefferson Blvd or the Scenic Overlook, the one mile main hiking trail climbs steeply up the hill.
The trail winds its way around the steep staircase created from the rubble of a demolished structure. There is a 58-acre park crowned by an easy loop trail. Visit the park during the spring, summer, and fall for native wildflower displays, bird watching, picnicking, and connecting with the parks cultural and natural heritage. Baldwin Hills Visitor Center features a small theater, a conference room, and an interactive exhibit about the area's development. Weddings, meetings, and special events are welcome at the venue.

Located in the Los Angeles Basin, this 65-acre project site was an empty hill with an abandoned aerospace structure at its summit. An investor purchased the land in 1999 for the purpose of building Vista Pacifica, a 200-unit apartment complex. During the period of timely community organizing and key legislative action, the site was purchased by Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy on behalf of California State Parks.
Planning with local stakeholders took place for a year before the Culver City park opened in 2006. In addition to the native plant pavilion, Jefferson Streetscape and crosswalk, Hetzler Pedestrian Path and various amenities used by park visitors, the Conservancy led the planning process.
